What Can Increase Crash Risk at Highway Intersections?
Intersections where county roads meet highways, such as County Road 142 and Highway 15, often involve vehicles moving at different speeds. This can create timing challenges, especially when drivers are turning across active lanes of traffic.
Turning movements require careful judgment of distance and speed. When a vehicle enters a highway from a side road, even small miscalculations can lead to a collision with oncoming traffic.
Safety features like seat belts and airbags can help reduce injury severity in these situations. Clear visibility and attention to approaching vehicles remain key factors in lowering the risk of crashes at these types of intersections.
