Fairfax County, VA (January 8, 2026) – A pedestrian lost his life following a hit-and-run crash that occurred earlier this week along Little River Turnpike in Fairfax County, according to preliminary information released by authorities.
The incident took place when a pedestrian was struck while attempting to cross Little River Turnpike near Shelley Ln. Investigators indicated that the collision involved a dark-colored sedan traveling westbound at the time of the crash. After the impact, the driver did not remain at the scene.
Emergency medical services responded quickly after the collision was reported. Paramedics located the injured pedestrian in the roadway and provided immediate medical care before transporting him to a nearby hospital. Despite lifesaving efforts, the victim later succumbed to his injuries.
The pedestrian has since been identified as 34-year-old Christopher Young. Officials confirmed that he was in serious condition upon arrival at the hospital, where he later passed away as a result of the injuries sustained in the crash. Notification of next of kin has been completed.
Authorities believe the crash occurred as Young was crossing the roadway near the intersection with Shelley Ln, an area that experiences steady traffic flow throughout the day and evening hours.
