Shelby Township, MI (July 7, 2026) – A 20-year-old man lost his life after his motorcycle struck another bike on Woodrow Rd near S. 112th Ave in Shelby Township.
The two-bike collision happened at about 10:07 p.m. on Sunday, July 5. According to the preliminary investigation, the Shelby Township rider rode into the rear of another motorcycle traveling ahead. He was critically injured and airlifted to Corewell Health Butterworth Hospital, where he later died.
The second rider, a 23-year-old man from New Era, was arrested on suspicion of operating while intoxicated and was booked into the Oceana County Jail. No additional injuries involving the other rider were reported.
Emergency units assisted at the roadway while crews worked to clear the site and gather evidence. Further details about the crash have not yet been released. Investigators are continuing to examine the circumstances leading up to what happened.
