Evergreen Township, MN (July 11, 2026) – Authorities were called to the area of a fatal collision involving a semi-truck and a passenger vehicle on Thursday night, July 9, on Highway 87 near milepost 15 in Evergreen Township. The crash was reported around 9:57 p.m., resulting in the death of a 62-year-old woman.
The incident report stated that a Peterbilt 388 semi-truck was backing into a residential property on the north side of Highway 87 when a westbound Subaru Outback traveled beneath the trailer. The Subaru driver, identified as 62-year-old Debra Sue Carlson of Menahga, suffered fatal injuries and was later pronounced dead. The semi driver, 37-year-old James Otto Schwarzrock of Frazee, was not injured.
Alcohol was not suspected in the crash. The incident remains under review by authorities. We are deeply saddened and extend our condolences to the family and friends of Debra Sue Carlson.
