Las Vegas, NV (June 29, 2026) – Five people were injured in a multi-vehicle crash at the intersection of East Lake Mead Boulevard and North Walnut Road on Saturday afternoon, June 27. One driver sustained life-threatening injuries in the collision, which occurred around 1:22 p.m.
According to emergency units, a 2011 Infiniti G sedan was traveling westbound on East Lake Mead Boulevard at a high rate of speed in the right lane. At the same time, a Nissan Pathfinder was heading eastbound in a left-turn-only lane and began turning north onto Walnut Rd under a flashing yellow arrow.
Officials said the front of the Infiniti struck the right side of the Nissan in the intersection. Both vehicles rotated toward the northwest following the impact. Debris from the crash also struck a parked 1998 Mercury Grand Marquis located in a nearby parking lot.
All occupants from both vehicles were transported to the University Medical Center Trauma Center. The Nissan driver suffered life-threatening injuries, while a passenger sustained serious injuries. In the Infiniti, the driver sustained serious injuries, a female passenger had minor injuries, and a juvenile passenger suffered serious injuries.
The Infiniti driver was later booked in absentia into the Clark County Detention Center on charges including reckless driving and child abuse. The investigation is ongoing as authorities continue to review the circumstances of the crash. We wish those injured a swift and full recovery.
What Investigators Review in High-Speed Intersection Crashes
When a serious intersection crash occurs, investigators typically examine signal phases, vehicle speed, and driver decision-making. In cases involving turning movements, they also review whether drivers had the right of way and how traffic signals or arrows were functioning at the time.
Vehicle positions, debris patterns, and damage points help reconstruct the angle and force of impact. Surveillance footage and witness statements often provide key details about how quickly the crash developed.
In multi-vehicle crashes with injuries, medical reports may also help determine the severity and timing of impacts. All available evidence is combined to establish a clearer picture of how the collision occurred.
