Why Head-On Collisions Are Often Severe
Head-on crashes are among the most dangerous types of collisions due to the combined speeds of both vehicles at impact. Occupants in smaller vehicles, such as pickup trucks, are particularly vulnerable to life-threatening injuries.
Alcohol use, driver distraction, or misjudgment of distance can increase the likelihood of such collisions. Emergency responders focus on extracting victims, providing immediate medical care, and securing the scene to prevent further accidents. Even animals in vehicles can be at risk, which is why responders also check pets during crashes.
