Why Train-Vehicle Collisions Often Result in Severe Injuries
Crashes involving trains and passenger vehicles are often extremely severe due to the massive size and momentum of trains. Even at lower speeds, a train cannot stop quickly, which significantly increases the impact force when a collision occurs. Vehicles struck by trains can sustain catastrophic damage, often leading to critical injuries for occupants.
In many cases, fires or derailments may occur following the initial impact, further complicating rescue efforts. Emergency responders must act quickly to manage both the crash scene and any hazards posed by the train or cargo. These incidents highlight the importance of caution near railroad crossings and awareness of approaching trains at all times.
