Broward County, FL (April 18, 2026) – A crash involving a semi-truck and a pickup shut down part of Interstate 75 northbound Saturday morning in Broward County.
The collision was reported around 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 18, just before Exit 21 near State Road 84, Northwest 184th Avenue, and Indian Trace. According to reports, a pickup truck struck the rear of a semi-truck and became wedged underneath the trailer.
Emergency units responded to the scene and worked to free a person trapped inside the pickup. The patient was later transported by helicopter to a hospital for treatment and was reported to be in stable condition.
The crash blocked the right lane of the highway for a period of time. The roadway was partially reopened after the helicopter cleared the scene, but traffic remained affected as crews continued their work.
Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash, and more details will be released as soon as they become available. We are thinking of those injured as they receive medical care.
What Factors Can Lead to Rear-End Crashes Involving Large Trucks?
Rear-end crashes involving large trucks often occur when a following vehicle fails to maintain a safe distance. Trucks require longer stopping distances, and sudden slowdowns can catch drivers off guard.
Driver attention is another key factor. Distractions or delayed reactions may prevent a driver from braking in time to avoid a collision with a larger vehicle ahead.
Road conditions and traffic flow can also influence these incidents. Heavy traffic, lane changes, or reduced visibility may increase the likelihood of a rear-end crash, especially on busy highways.
