Why E-Scooter Crashes at Intersections Can Be So Severe
Collisions involving electric scooters at intersections often result in serious injuries because riders have less protection than occupants of larger vehicles. When stop signs or traffic signals are missed, riders may enter a roadway without enough time for oncoming drivers to react.
Intersections require quick decision-making from both drivers and riders, and visibility can play a major role in crash outcomes. Helmet use is also a key factor in reducing head injuries during falls or vehicle impacts. Investigators typically examine right-of-way rules, speed, and visibility conditions to determine how these types of collisions occur.
