Gaviota Coast, CA (January 24, 2026) – A single-vehicle crash along northbound Highway 101 near Mariposa Reina left one person injured Friday afternoon on the Gaviota Coast, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The incident occurred at approximately 3:15 p.m. on January 23. Authorities reported that the vehicle veered off the highway, traveled roughly 50 feet up an embankment, and collided with several trees before coming to a stop.
Santa Barbara County Fire Department crews arrived on scene and provided medical care to the injured driver. The individual was transported by American Medical Response ambulance to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital with what officials described as moderate injuries.
No other vehicles were involved in the collision, and traffic was not significantly affected, as no lane closures were necessary during the emergency response.
The identity of the injured individual has not been released, and investigators are still working to determine the cause of the crash.
