Gilmanton Twp, MN (January 22, 2026) – An accident involving two vehicles and resulting in injuries was reported on Wednesday afternoon on northbound Highway 23 at Mile Post 220 in Gilmanton Township, Benton County. The crash occurred at approximately 3:23 p.m. and involved a Toyota RAV4 and a Chevrolet Silverado.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the driver of the Toyota RAV4 was turning south onto 105th Avenue from the southbound lanes of Highway 23 when the vehicle collided with a northbound Chevy Silverado. The impact occurred in the intersection, causing both airbags to deploy.
Responders from Benton County and Foley Fire assisted at the scene. The 16-year-old male driver of the Toyota RAV4 sustained injuries and was transported to CentraCare for medical treatment. His current condition has not been publicly released. The driver of the Chevrolet Silverado, identified as 31-year-old Jacquob Tyler Peterson of Solon Springs, WI, was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured in the crash.
Authorities closed part of the roadway to manage the scene and ensure the safety of emergency crews and other drivers. Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the collision are ongoing.
