Why Vehicle Ejections Often Lead to Severe Injuries
Vehicle ejections are among the most dangerous outcomes in rollover crashes because occupants may strike the ground, roadway, or other objects outside the vehicle. The force of multiple rollovers can greatly increase the chance of serious injury.
Investigators often review seat belt use, vehicle speed, and the sequence of rollover events after these crashes. Lane changes and loss of control are also commonly examined to determine how the vehicle left the roadway.
Roadside terrain can affect how a vehicle overturns after leaving the pavement. Embankments, soft ground, or sudden changes in elevation may contribute to repeated rollovers. Vehicle damage and ejection distance are frequently analyzed to help reconstruct how the crash unfolded.
