Greenfield, WI (May 11, 2026) – A motorcyclist sustained life-threatening injuries Monday afternoon following a collision involving an SUV in Greenfield, according to the Greenfield Police Department.
Emergency crews were dispatched around 4:16 p.m. to the intersection of 116th Street and Layton Avenue for reports of a crash involving a motorcycle and an SUV. When officers and firefighters arrived, they found a 23-year-old man from New Berlin seriously injured at the scene. He was transported to Froedtert Hospital, where he is being treated for life-threatening injuries.
Police said the driver of the SUV, a 62-year-old Greenfield woman, was not injured in the collision. She remained at the scene and is cooperating fully with investigators. We are thinking of the injured as he receive medical care.
Crash Reconstruction Underway
According to the preliminary investigation, the SUV driver was attempting to make a left turn from Layton Avenue onto 116th Street to travel southbound when the collision occurred with the eastbound motorcycle. Investigators believe speed may have been a contributing factor in the crash.
The Wisconsin State Patrol was called in to assist with reconstruction of the accident scene as authorities continue gathering evidence and reviewing the circumstances leading up to the collision. Intersections involving turning vehicles and motorcycles can present heightened risks, especially on busy roadways with changing traffic conditions.
Officials continue to remind motorists to use caution when turning across traffic and encourage motorcyclists to remain alert and travel at safe speeds. The crash remains under investigation by the Greenfield Police Department.
