What Factors Commonly Contribute to Fatal Motorcycle Crashes in Arkansas?
Failure to yield is one of the leading causes of deadly crashes involving motorcycles across the country, including in Arkansas. When a driver in a larger vehicle fails to check for oncoming riders before entering an intersection or changing direction, the consequences can be severe. Motorcycles offer far less physical protection than enclosed vehicles, which makes any direct collision especially dangerous.
Intersections are among the most hazardous spots for motorcycle riders. Even in clear weather and good road conditions, the combination of crossing traffic paths and reduced rider visibility to other drivers creates real risk. Arkansas roads that carry both local and through traffic, particularly U.S. highway corridors, see a disproportionate number of these incidents each year.
