Henrico County, VA (January 13, 2026) – A man was left with serious injuries after being struck by a tractor-trailer while attempting to cross Interstate 95 on a bicycle Monday afternoon, according to the Virginia State Police.
The incident occurred around 4:00 p.m. in the southbound lanes near the 82-mile marker, close to Chamberlayne Rd. Witnesses at the scene reported that the driver of a red bobtail tractor hauling a flatbed trailer slammed on the brakes moments before colliding with the cyclist. Following the impact, the driver fled the area without stopping to provide aid.
Emergency medical services transported the injured cyclist to VCU Medical Center, where he is currently being treated for serious injuries. His current condition has not been released.
Authorities noted that the suspect vehicle likely has visible damage to its left side. Troopers are continuing their investigation and are urging anyone who may have seen the crash or has knowledge of the fleeing vehicle to contact the Virginia State Police.
