What Happens When a Vehicle Crosses a Median on a Highway?
Main travel routes like Interstate 20 can see serious incidents when vehicles leave their lanes. In Hinds County, crashes at median crossings often create complex scenes due to opposing traffic.
When a vehicle crosses a median, it may enter lanes with traffic moving at similar speeds but in the opposite direction. This can increase the impact force and the likelihood of multiple vehicles becoming involved.
Road conditions, speed, and driver reaction all affect how these crashes unfold. The final positions of the vehicles and damage patterns can help explain how the collision occurred and why both vehicles ended up off the main roadway.
