Huntington County, IN (January 27, 2026) – A fatal two-vehicle collision on January 26 along US 24 in Union Township claimed the life of a Huntington woman after her SUV crossed the median and was struck by a semi-truck. The crash occurred around 9:50 a.m. and prompted a large-scale emergency response from local and state agencies.
According to officials, the SUV, driven by 58-year-old Patricia A. Jackson, veered across the center median into oncoming eastbound traffic before being hit by a semi operated by 40-year-old Aaron Amyx of Harrison, Michigan. The impact left both vehicles in the median area and severely damaged. First responders arriving at the scene confirmed that Jackson had suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the site.
The Huntington County Coroner’s Office later determined that Jackson died from multiple blunt impact injuries and ruled the death accidental. Preliminary findings suggest that poor roadway conditions played a major role in the collision. Amyx, the semi-truck driver, was not injured in the crash.
Authorities with the Huntington County Sheriff’s Office and Indiana State Police assisted with the investigation and scene management. No further details have been released at this time.
We extend our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Patricia Jackson during this difficult time.
