Imperial, CA (January 4, 2026) – Emergency responders from Imperial were dispatched to the scene of a major injury crash involving a pedestrian on W Evan Hewes Hwy near Forrester Rd. The incident prompted a significant emergency response and temporary road closures in the area.
Medics and fire crews worked urgently to assist the pedestrian, who was reportedly struck by a vehicle around 9:35 p.m. The victim was found lying in the roadway with serious injuries. Paramedics from American Medical Response (AMR) arrived within minutes, and due to the critical nature of the injuries, a REACH Air Medical Services helicopter landed at the scene to transport the individual to a trauma center.
The crash occurred just east of Forrester Rd on the westbound side of W Evan Hewes Hwy. To facilitate emergency response operations and the helicopter landing, authorities diverted traffic onto nearby roadways, including Forrester Rd and Johnson Ln. Drivers attempting to bypass the scene faced additional delays, and traffic was blocked east of Johnson Lane during the investigation.
Law enforcement officials, including the California Highway Patrol and Imperial County emergency personnel, secured the area and began gathering details to determine the cause of the collision. The identities of those involved have not yet been released, and the crash remains under active investigation.
