Why Head-on Collisions Often Result in Severe Injuries
Head-on crashes are among the most serious types of roadway accidents. When two vehicles traveling in opposite directions collide, the combined speed of the vehicles can create a powerful impact.
These crashes often happen when a vehicle crosses the center line into oncoming traffic. Factors such as driver distraction, speeding, fatigue, or medical issues can sometimes contribute to this type of incident.
Investigators usually examine roadway markings, vehicle damage, and witness statements to determine how a vehicle entered the opposing lane. The final positions of the vehicles and debris patterns can also help reconstruct the events leading up to the crash.
