Trimble County, KY (June 18, 2026) – One person was killed and four others suffered serious injuries following a two-vehicle crash Tuesday morning, June 16, on Highway 421 in Trimble County, according to Kentucky State Police.
Authorities said the collision occurred at approximately 9:46 a.m. in the northbound lanes of Highway 421. A preliminary investigation determined that a passenger vehicle crossed the center line and collided with a pickup truck driven by David Logan, 39, of Lawrenceburg, Indiana.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene and found multiple victims injured. Police said the woman driving the passenger vehicle and her three child passengers sustained serious injuries in the crash. All four were airlifted to hospitals in Louisville for treatment.
Logan suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Trimble County Coroner.
The crash prompted the temporary closure of Highway 421 near Milton Hill while investigators processed the scene and emergency crews assisted the victims. The roadway has since reopened to traffic.
Kentucky State Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision.
Crossing the Center Line Leads to Severe Head-On Collisions
Head-on crashes are among the most dangerous types of roadway collisions because the combined force of two vehicles traveling in opposite directions can result in catastrophic injuries. When a vehicle crosses the center line, drivers have little time to react or avoid impact.
Investigators typically review roadway evidence, vehicle damage, witness statements, and environmental conditions to determine why a vehicle left its lane of travel. Medical emergencies, driver distraction, fatigue, and other factors may be considered during the investigation.
Serious crashes involving multiple victims and fatalities require extensive reconstruction efforts as authorities work to establish the exact sequence of events.
