Lebec, CA (July 7, 2026) – A multi-vehicle traffic accident with injuries was reported late on Monday night, July 6, along northbound I-5 just south of Grapevine Road near Lebec.
Initial California Highway Patrol reports indicated a single vehicle became disabled in the roadway around 10:30 p.m. As traffic backed up, additional vehicles became involved, with dispatch logs later indicating as many as seven vehicles were scattered across the freeway. Reported vehicles included a Tesla, a BMW, a Mazda CX-5, a Hyundai Sonata, a black SUV, and a gray sedan.
At least one person was reported hurt inside the freeway closure, prompting emergency units to provide medical assistance. Several lanes were blocked for hours while tow trucks worked to remove damaged vehicles, including commercial trucks. By around 1:38 a.m., all northbound lanes had reopened after crews completed the cleanup. The cause of the crash remains under review as investigators continue gathering information.
