Escondido, CA (July 8, 2026) – An injury traffic accident involving multiple vehicles was reported on Sunday morning, July 5, on the northbound I-15 just north of Deer Springs Road near Mountain Meadow in Escondido.
According to dispatch records, the first report came in around 7:41 a.m. According to police reports, a Kia was involved, and callers later reported that four to five vehicles were blocking the right shoulder and center divider. A possible second vehicle was also reported to have gone off the right side of the freeway.
Emergency units located a white Kia Sol with front-right damage and deployed airbags near Rancho California Road. Dispatch notes also indicated that all those involved were checked and treated on site for injuries.
The number of people hurt and the extent of their injuries were not immediately released. The cause of the collision remains under review as investigators continue gathering information.
