Menomonee Falls, WI (May 28, 2026) – A high-speed pursuit early Monday morning ended with two passengers paralyzed after a Jeep left the roadway and struck a tree in Menomonee Falls.
According to investigators, the wreck happened on Memorial Day near Fond du Lac Avenue and Country Club Drive after an officer attempted to stop a Jeep. The driver, identified as 24-year-old Lenieya Jones of Milwaukee, allegedly refused to pull over and accelerated away.
Court documents stated the chase lasted less than two minutes, with the Jeep reaching speeds of about 93 mph before going off the road. Two male passengers were reportedly thrown from the SUV during the violent collision and later suffered paralysis.
Investigators said Jones initially claimed another person had been driving, but no additional driver was found during a search of the nearby neighborhood. Prosecutors later charged her with multiple offenses, including two counts of first-degree reckless injury.
Jones remained in custody Wednesday on a $75,000 cash bond. Detectives are still reviewing evidence tied to the pursuit and roadway departure. Our hearts go out to the men facing long recoveries after this devastating crash.
How High-Speed Pursuits Can Increase Injury Severity
High-speed pursuits often lead to severe harm because drivers have less time to react to traffic signals, curves, and roadside obstacles. As speed increases, vehicles require more distance to stop safely, and even a small steering mistake can lead to a serious roadway departure.
Passengers also face greater danger during these situations, especially if seat belts are not used properly. When a vehicle overturns or strikes a fixed object like a tree, people inside may be thrown from the SUV or suffer life-changing trauma from the force involved.
After major pursuits, investigators usually examine speed data, roadway markings, vehicle damage, and surveillance footage. Mechanical inspections and witness statements can also help explain how the driver lost control before the vehicle left the roadway.
