What Are the Risks of Stunt Riding on Public Roads in Missouri?
Performing stunts like wheelies on public roads is illegal in Missouri and carries serious risks for everyone nearby. When a rider loses control at speed, the outcome can change in an instant — especially near intersections or in areas with steady traffic flow. Unlike a closed course, public roads offer no barriers or safety nets if something goes wrong.
Modified motorcycles add another layer of risk. Changes to a bike’s engine, suspension, or frame can affect how it handles, sometimes in ways the rider may not expect. A modification that performs well in controlled settings may behave unpredictably at high speeds or under sudden stress.
Head-on collisions involving motorcycles tend to result in severe injuries. Riders have very little protection compared to passengers inside a vehicle, which is why crashes of this type so often lead to critical or life-threatening outcomes.
