Why Head-on Collisions Often Cause Severe Injuries
Head-on collisions are among the most dangerous types of crashes because both vehicles often meet with a strong forward force. This can cause major damage to the front of each vehicle and place heavy stress on drivers and passengers.
Centerline crashes may happen on rural roads, curves, or two-lane routes where opposing traffic is close. Even a brief lane departure can have serious consequences if another vehicle is approaching from the opposite direction.
After a head-on crash, medical crews often check for head, chest, abdominal, leg, and internal injuries. Some injuries may not be visible right away, so hospital care is often needed when a person is badly hurt.
