Lafayette, LA (January 10, 2026) – A serious multi-vehicle crash caused major delays on I-10 West on Friday afternoon near the I-10/I-49 interchange, according to the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development. The incident, which occurred around 3:00 p.m., involved four vehicles: an 18-wheeler, an RV, a transit van, and a pickup truck.
The Lafayette Police Department confirmed that two individuals sustained minor injuries and were transported to nearby hospitals for treatment. Fortunately, no life-threatening injuries were reported.
The crash forced authorities to block the right and middle lanes of I-10 West, causing significant traffic congestion through the interchange area. Crews worked to clear the scene and reopen all lanes by approximately 4:30 p.m.
The cause of the collision remains under investigation, with law enforcement reviewing contributing factors such as vehicle spacing, lane changes, and traffic flow at the time of the incident.
