What Information Is Reviewed After a Head-On Collision?
Head-on crashes are frequently among the most severe roadway accidents because both vehicles may be traveling toward each other at significant speeds. Investigators often review lane positioning, vehicle damage, skid marks, and roadway conditions to determine how the collision occurred.
Medical findings and emergency response records may also help explain the seriousness of injuries suffered by those involved. In some cases, vehicle data systems can provide information about speed, braking, or steering actions before impact.
Road closures are common after major head-on crashes because emergency crews need space to assist victims, remove damaged vehicles, and document the scene. Rural highways and two-lane roads can present additional risks when drivers drift across center lines or have limited time to react to oncoming traffic.
