Las Vegas, NV (January 15, 2026) – A 56-year-old woman tragically lost her life Wednesday afternoon after being struck by a dump truck while crossing the street in the west valley, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. The fatal crash occurred around 1:55 p.m. at the intersection of W Flamingo Rd and S Rainbow Blvd.
Authorities reported that a 2020 Western Star dump truck was stopped at a red light on Flamingo Rd while the pedestrian stood at the northeast corner of the intersection. When the pedestrian signal turned to “walk,” the woman entered the crosswalk to cross Rainbow Blvd. At that moment, the dump truck made a right turn and collided with her in the crosswalk.
Tragically, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Responding medics and emergency crews confirmed the fatal injuries upon arrival. The driver of the dump truck remained at the location and cooperated with the investigation. Police noted there were no signs of impairment involved.
Investigators continue to review surveillance footage and interview witnesses to determine the full circumstances of the crash. Traffic in the area was temporarily disrupted as officials worked to document and clear the scene.
