The southbound train collided with the vehicle shortly before midnight, according to Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue. The impact carried the car along the tracks to the 400 block of Northeast Flagler Drive, where it remained lodged beneath the train.
The driver was able to exit the vehicle without assistance. Emergency crews found her beside the car and transported her to Broward Health Medical Center with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Officials have not determined what led to the collision. The circumstances of the crash remain under investigation.
