Why Motorcycle Crashes Often Lead to Serious Injuries
Motorcycle crashes often result in severe injuries because riders have far less protection than people inside passenger vehicles. Without the structural frame, airbags, and seat belts found in cars, riders are more exposed during an impact.
Even collisions at moderate speeds can lead to significant harm. When a motorcycle and a larger vehicle collide, the difference in size and weight can increase the force experienced by the rider.
Visibility can also affect how these crashes occur. Motorcycles are smaller and may be harder for other drivers to notice, especially at intersections or when vehicles are turning.
Road conditions and balance also influence motorcycle safety. Loose gravel, uneven pavement, or sudden braking can make it difficult for a rider to maintain control, particularly when other vehicles are nearby.
