Why Pedestrian Crashes at Intersections Can Lead to Injuries
Pedestrian crashes can cause serious injuries because people on foot have no protection. Even a low-speed impact may knock a person down or cause harm from contact with the road. Drivers, passengers, and pedestrians may all need medical checks after this type of collision.
Intersections often involve many movements at once. Vehicles may be turning, stopping, crossing lanes, or entering traffic while pedestrians use marked crossings nearby. These movements can make timing and visibility harder for everyone in the area.
Factors like road layout, traffic signals, vehicle speed, and sight lines can affect how these crashes happen. Weather, glare, and traffic volume may also affect reaction time during busy travel periods.
