Los Angeles, CA (January 8, 2026) – A 75-year-old man identified as Estanislo Garcia was fatally struck while crossing the street in the Florence neighborhood of Los Angeles, according to officials with the Los Angeles Police Department and the L.A. County Medical Examiner.
The deadly crash occurred at approximately 5:49 p.m. on Sunday, January 4, at the intersection of San Pedro St and 83rd St. Investigators determined that Garcia was walking westbound in a marked crosswalk when he was hit by a vehicle traveling northbound on San Pedro St.
Emergency responders arrived shortly after the incident, but tragically, Garcia was pronounced dead at the scene due to the severity of his injuries.
The driver involved in the crash remained on-site and cooperated with investigators. No arrests have been made, and officials have not yet indicated whether drugs, alcohol, or speed played a role in the collision.
