Los Angeles, CA (February 28, 2026) – A man in a wheelchair was struck and injured Friday morning, February 27, following a violent multi-vehicle crash near a busy intersection in the North Hills area of Los Angeles.
According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, the crash occurred around 10 a.m. near the intersection of Nordhoff Street and Orion Avenue. Authorities say an SUV collided with a pickup truck, causing the pickup to spin out of control.
Video captured by a bystander shows the pickup mounting the curb and striking a man in a wheelchair. The force of the impact launched the man into the air, where he collided with a nearby food vendor.
Witnesses rushed to the scene to help those involved. One witness, Guillermo Garcia, said the crash was shocking and happened in an instant. The extent of the injuries suffered by the man in the wheelchair and the food vendor has not yet been released.
No arrests have been made, and investigators have not announced whether any citations will be issued.

How Chain-Reaction Crashes Can Endanger Pedestrians
When vehicles collide at intersections, the initial impact can redirect one or more vehicles into sidewalks or nearby public spaces. Pedestrians, wheelchair users, and vendors positioned near the roadway often have little time to react.
Busy intersections increase the risk of secondary impacts, especially when vehicles are traveling at high speeds. Investigators typically review traffic patterns, vehicle movements, and any available video evidence to determine how control was lost and how the collision unfolded.
