Manchester, NY (January 7, 2026) – A serious two-vehicle crash in the Town of Manchester left one man critically injured and another with non-life-threatening injuries on Tuesday afternoon. The incident occurred at the intersection of County Road 7 and Route 96 around 2:45 p.m., according to New York State Police.
Investigators say a 55-year-old man driving a passenger vehicle northbound on County Rd 7 failed to stop at a posted stop sign and entered the intersection, where he was struck by a westbound box truck operated by a 30-year-old Fairport resident. The force of the collision caused both vehicles to overturn and leave the roadway before coming to a stop off the shoulder.
Emergency medical personnel responded quickly, and the 55-year-old driver was transported by ambulance to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. As of the latest update, he remains in critical condition. The driver of the box truck was treated for less severe injuries at F.F. Thompson Memorial Hospital in Canandaigua after being taken there by private vehicle.
Troopers confirmed that alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue to examine the events leading up to the collision.
Our thoughts are with both drivers, and we extend sincere wishes for a full recovery to those affected.
