Manteca, CA (January 4, 2026) – A fatal collision involving a big rig and a pickup truck claimed one life on Highway 99 near Lathrop Rd in Manteca. The deadly crash occurred in the northbound lanes, prompting an extended roadway closure and a full investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
A pickup truck towing a trailer was traveling north on Highway 99 when it was struck by a big rig under circumstances that have not yet been confirmed. First responders arrived at the scene and found at least one person critically injured inside the pickup. Emergency personnel provided immediate care before transporting the victim to a nearby hospital, where they were later pronounced deceased.
The identity of the deceased individual has not yet been released, pending notification of next of kin. Authorities have not confirmed the condition of the big rig driver or any other involved parties at this time.
The crash resulted in the full closure of northbound Highway 99 for several hours as officers conducted a detailed scene investigation. Traffic was rerouted, and the roadway was officially reopened around 4:00 p.m.
