How Head-On Crashes on Rural Roads Can Turn Deadly
Head-on crashes are among the most serious types of accidents, especially on rural roads with limited visibility. Hills, curves, and narrow lanes can reduce reaction time, making it harder for drivers to avoid oncoming vehicles.
Driving on gravel surfaces can also affect control, particularly at higher speeds. Loose material may reduce traction and increase stopping distance. This can make it more difficult to correct a vehicle’s path if it drifts out of its lane.
Seat belt use is another major factor in crash outcomes. Wearing a seat belt can help reduce the risk of fatal injuries during high-impact collisions. Even in areas with light traffic, consistent use of restraints adds a layer of protection when unexpected situations occur.
