What Happens When Vehicles Cross the Center Line on Highways?
Crossing the center line on a highway can quickly lead to dangerous and often severe collisions. When a vehicle enters oncoming traffic, it puts both drivers at risk, especially when larger vehicles like 18-wheelers are involved.
These crashes are often caused by loss of control, distraction, fatigue, or road conditions. On highways such as US 281, where vehicles travel at higher speeds, the impact of a collision can be more significant, increasing the likelihood of injuries.
Large trucks require more distance to slow down or stop, making it harder to avoid a collision when another vehicle suddenly enters their lane. Staying focused, maintaining control of the vehicle, and adjusting speed to road conditions are essential steps in preventing these types of accidents.
