Marion, IA (January 31, 2026) – Two people were injured in a residential explosion reported on January 30 in the 1100 block of 9th St in Marion. The incident occurred around 10:43 a.m., prompting a response from local fire crews. Upon arrival, responders found no visible smoke or fire but confirmed that an explosion had taken place inside the home.
Both residents of the home were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of their injuries. Authorities have not disclosed the severity of the injuries or the names of those involved. The incident remains under review by local officials.
According to initial findings, the explosion was triggered when a heat gun came into contact with an aerosol can inside the residence. No additional damage was reported, and the scene was secured without further incident.
