Understanding Rollover Crashes and Their Risks
Vehicle rollovers can result from sharp turns, high speeds, or collisions that destabilize a car. Occupants are at higher risk of serious injuries, including head trauma, when a vehicle flips.
Extrication is often required if occupants are trapped inside, and emergency responders prioritize both safe removal and immediate medical attention. Protective equipment, such as seat belts, can reduce injuries, but the forces involved in rollover crashes still make these crashes particularly dangerous. Prompt transport to a trauma center is critical for recovery.
