Menifee, CA (January 10, 2026) – Emergency responders rushed to the scene of a hit-and-run crash with injuries early Friday morning on Interstate 215 near Newport Rd in Menifee.
The California Highway Patrol reported that the collision occurred shortly before 12:40 a.m. on January 9 in the northbound lanes of I-215. Two vehicles were involved in the incident, with one remaining at the scene while the second fled. A witness reported that the suspect vehicle—a white Mini Cooper or possibly a Kia—was last seen continuing northbound with its hazard lights on.
Emergency medical services responded quickly and rendered aid to those hurt in the crash. Paramedics and fire crews worked to assist individuals suffering from a variety of injuries following the impact. One vehicle was found disabled on the right shoulder with airbags deployed, indicating a forceful collision.
CHP officials later confirmed that the case was being treated as a DUI hit-and-run. Both vehicles were towed for evidence to a secured facility, and the investigation was reopened to pursue further leads. As of now, no arrests have been made, and the full extent of the victims’ injuries remains undisclosed.
