How Truck Crashes Involving Bridges Can Increase the Severity of Injuries
When a crash causes a vehicle to leave a highway and fall from a bridge, the impact forces can be significantly greater than those of a standard roadway collision. The added height increases the risk of severe damage and serious injuries.
Fires may also occur if fuel systems are damaged during the crash. This can complicate rescue efforts and increase the danger for both occupants and responders.
Large trucks carrying cargo can pose additional hazards if the cargo becomes loose during a crash. Debris may scatter across multiple roadways, requiring extended cleanup and increasing the risk to nearby drivers.
