Dix Hills, NY (June 1, 2026) – Three people were injured on Saturday following a collision involving two vehicles and a motorcycle at the intersection of Deer Park Avenue and Kenmore Street in Dix Hills.
Suffolk County police said the crash happened at about 4:49 p.m. on May 30, after two vehicles collided in the intersection. One of the vehicles then struck a male motorcyclist nearby. The motorcyclist was taken to Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip with non-life-threatening injuries.
A female driver and a female passenger from one of the vehicles were also taken to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Investigators continue reviewing what led to the intersection crash. We are thinking of all three people as they recover.
Why Motorcycle-Involved Intersection Crashes Can Be Serious
Crashes involving motorcycles and passenger vehicles at intersections often result in injuries because riders have less protection compared to people inside cars or SUVs. When multiple vehicles enter or pass through an intersection at the same time, timing and visibility become key factors in preventing collisions.
Left turns, lane crossings, and sudden stops can increase the risk of a vehicle striking a motorcyclist who may be less visible in traffic. Even when injuries are not life-threatening, medical evaluation is typically required due to the force involved in multi-vehicle impacts. Investigators often examine signal timing, sight lines, and vehicle positions to better understand how intersection collisions unfold.
