Goodyear, AZ (July 16, 2026) – A motorcyclist was seriously hurt on July 14 after a two-vehicle collision near the intersection of Litchfield and McDowell roads in Goodyear.

The crash happened shortly before 1 p.m., involving a motorcycle and another vehicle. Emergency units arrived and took the rider to a nearby hospital with serious injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening. The police said the man was not wearing a helmet when the collision occurred.

The woman driving the other vehicle was also taken to a local hospital as a precaution. Traffic restrictions remained in place while crews worked on the roadway and investigators gathered evidence.

Investigators are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the collision, and more information is expected as the review progresses.

We hope those injured in this collision make a full and speedy recovery.

Why Helmet Use Can Reduce the Severity of Motorcycle Injuries

Motorcycle riders have far less physical protection than people traveling in passenger vehicles, making them more vulnerable during a collision. Wearing a properly fitted helmet can significantly reduce the risk of severe head trauma and improve the chances of surviving a serious roadway incident. Other protective gear, including jackets, gloves, boots, and reinforced riding pants, may also help lessen certain injuries. Even with protective equipment, riders remain at greater risk because they are more exposed to surrounding traffic and road hazards.

Factors such as visibility, vehicle speed, weather, and road conditions can all influence the outcome of a motorcycle collision. Safe riding practices and defensive driving by everyone on the road help reduce the likelihood of these serious crashes.
