What Factors Can Contribute to Motorcycle Crashes at Intersections?
Motorcycle crashes at intersections often occur due to visibility challenges and timing errors. Motorcycles are smaller than most vehicles, which can make them harder for drivers to see, especially when turning or crossing traffic.
Speed and right-of-way decisions are also common factors. A driver may misjudge how fast a motorcycle is approaching or fail to yield when required. These moments can quickly lead to a collision.
Road design and traffic signals can influence how safely vehicles move through intersections. Clear markings, functioning signals, and unobstructed views help reduce risk. Riders and drivers both benefit from staying alert and checking carefully before entering or crossing an intersection.
