Nashville, TN (March 16, 2026) – Two people died following a crash during a pursuit involving the Tennessee Highway Patrol on Interstate 24 in Nashville, according to a newly released crash report.
The incident occurred around 9:00 p.m. on Sunday near mile marker 54 on I-24 West close to Antioch Pike in Nashville, Tennessee. Investigators said a Volkswagen CC was attempting to flee from troopers while traveling westbound on the interstate when it collided with a Ford Escape that was driving in the far-right lane.
Authorities reported that after the impact, the Volkswagen left the roadway, struck a guardrail, and overturned. The Ford Escape came to a stop along the right shoulder. The driver of the Volkswagen, identified as 18-year-old David Wheeler, sustained fatal injuries in the crash. Officials reported that he was wearing a seatbelt at the time.
A passenger in the vehicle, 43-year-old Kisha Marable, was also killed in the collision. A second passenger, a 32-year-old individual suffered unspecified injuries in the crash. Troopers with the Tennessee Highway Patrol continue to review the circumstances surrounding the pursuit and the collision.
