Boca Raton, FL (March 16, 2026) – A pedestrian died on March 15, days after being struck by a vehicle in a parking lot at a Costco store in Boca Raton.
Emergency units responded around 4:33 p.m. on Monday, March 9, to the Costco located at 17800 South Congress Avenue after reports that a person had been hit by a vehicle in the parking lot. Investigators said a 2013 Lexus RX 350 was traveling southwest through the lot and attempting to make a left turn.
Authorities reported that the driver failed to yield to a pedestrian walking toward the store. The front left bumper of the vehicle struck the pedestrian, knocking him to the ground.
The pedestrian, identified as 87-year-old Maurice Kofman of Boca Raton, was taken to Delray Medical Center with critical injuries. Officials confirmed that Kofman died from those injuries on Sunday, March 15, at around 5:14 p.m. The driver, a 54-year-old woman from Boca Raton, was not injured.
The incident remains under investigation, and additional information may become available as authorities continue their review.
