Why Construction Zones Increase Crash Risks
Construction zones often change normal traffic patterns, including lane closures and reduced speeds. Drivers may encounter sudden stops or slowed traffic, especially when workers are directing vehicles through a single lane.
Rear-end crashes are common in these areas when drivers fail to adjust speed or remain attentive. Limited space and shifting lanes can also make it harder to avoid collisions.
Paying close attention to road signs, reducing speed, and staying alert to changes in traffic can help reduce the risk of crashes in construction zones.
