New Hartford, NY (January 29, 2026) – A 78-year-old resident was seriously injured on Wednesday morning after being struck by a vehicle while in the roadway near the intersection of Sessions Rd and Cosmo Ct in New Hartford.

According to the New Hartford Police Department, the collision occurred around 7:45 a.m. when a vehicle traveling along Sessions Rd struck Lynn Rausher, a local resident. The driver, identified as 20-year-old Nathaniel Matthews of New Hartford, remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities.

Emergency personnel responded quickly and provided immediate aid to the injured pedestrian. Rausher was transported to Wynn Hospital, where they remain in serious condition as of the latest update.

The incident remains under active investigation, and no charges have been filed at this time. Police are continuing to review the circumstances surrounding the crash, including road conditions and visibility at the time of the collision.
