Norfolk, VA January 1, 2026 – A two-car crash in Norfolk resulted in injuries and a hazardous spill Tuesday afternoon at the intersection of Newport Ave and W 27th St. The collision was reported around 1:40 p.m., involving a red Acura and a gray Honda SUV.
When emergency crews arrived, they located one of the drivers sitting on the ground with visible injuries. At least two medic units responded to the scene to evaluate and transport the injured party or parties to a nearby hospital for treatment. Officials have not released the exact number of people hospitalized or the severity of their injuries.
Responders also noted that one of the vehicles was leaking fluids, prompting fire crews to take precautionary measures to contain the hazard and prevent further roadway risks. Norfolk Police assisted in securing the area during the incident.
The crash caused temporary traffic disruption while responders tended to victims and cleared the wreckage. Investigators are working to determine what led to the crash and whether any citations will be issued.
