Why Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Crashes Can Be Especially Dangerous
Pedestrian crashes often lead to serious injuries because people have little protection when struck by a vehicle. Even a low-speed crash can cause significant harm, especially when a person falls and hits the pavement.
Head injuries are among the most common concerns in these situations. A sudden impact can lead to bleeding in the brain, concussions, or facial injuries, particularly when the head strikes the ground.
Medical teams often monitor victims closely after these incidents because symptoms may worsen hours after the crash. Older adults may face additional risks since recovery can take longer and injuries may be more severe.
These crashes also highlight the risks pedestrians face in busy areas where vehicles frequently enter or exit parking areas and roadside businesses.
